[singlepic id=128 w = 200 float=left] We had a blast partnering with the neighborhood church, Iglesia Menonita Adelante con Cristo and St. Paul’s United Methodist Church in Largo, Florida for Vacation Bible School. We started the week at the church property, but after the first day’s attendance was close to 150 we talked with the church leadership and decided to move the rest of the weeks activities to the Chadasha facilities. The attendance throughout the week grew to 200. The Mennonite church provided local teachers for the 5 classes divided into age groups: 0 – 3, 4 – 6, 7 – 11, 12 – 16, and 17 – 108. St. Paul’s provided songs, crowd control, sports activities, and snack distribution. It was great to see the facility used to such a full extent as we used several classrooms, other empty rooms, and the central patio. We spent the week studying Paul’s missionary journeys and it was fun, deafening, and a bit ironic to hear the kids reciting the weeks memory verse Habakkuk 2:20 “But the LORD is in his holy temple; let all the earth be silent before him”. We didn’t have much silence this week, but we did have a lot of fun activities. I think my favorite class was the 17-108 year-old class, it is a bit different from your typical American VBS to have adults that attend a VBS class, but it was a great group and as with the others the attendance grew day by day. I can’t wait to do it again next year.
