Seeking Guidance

posted in: General News 3
The other day I was praying for a man we recently met who is a missionary in Santiago, a big city about 2 hours away from us.  He’s starting a church in an upper-middle class community and doing community development in one of the poorest areas of Santiago.  As I was praying, I found myself struggling for the right words. “Help him to be successful, to be fruitful in his ministry.”  I guess my struggle was one that has plagued my prayer life for as long as I can remember…Why am I needing to pray this?  Isn’t God going to do it anyway?  Why wouldn’t God bless him to be successful and fruitful if he’s doing what God called him to do in the first place?  OK, so that last part is the key!  IF he’s doing what God called him to do in the first place.  So I started praying that he would be faithful to seek God and his guidance, that he would be sensitive and obedient to the leading of the Spirit.
Maybe you don’t have a “ministry”, but what you do day in and day out matters!  It could be that you feel that the day didn’t go quite as you wanted it to, but if you KNOW that you sought the Spirit’s leading and followed obediently, then that day went exactly as it was supposed to!  We can’t help but have success if we’re seeking and following His leading.  And it’s a lot less stressful as well–He sees the future and knows all the twists and turns that could throw us for a loop.  He’ll navigate us through all that if we’ll just let Him and stop trying to figure it all out on our own.

one of my frequent prayers is that I know/see God’s will for me and then have His power to carry it out. Thanks for another reminder that I needed today…..missing all of you
